Never did I thought that something so American, like hotdog sandwiches, can be made very Filipino. Franks Craft Beers Manila was able to come up with their Filipino Hotdogs featuring the flavors, Bistek Tagalog, Chicken Inasal, and Chicken Pork Adobo. Together with some friends from our KTG family, we attended the Manila Whisky Live 2017 which was held at The Grand Ballroom of Shangri-La at The Fort.
The tito and tita foodies of Manila spend the night out in VU's. Sharing our experience in this blog post as VU's launches its Aperitivo promo. (Photo courtesy of Marco Polo).
We were invited by Cable Car Tomas Morato during their Valentine's Day event to try our their original and signature cocktails, dishes and my favorite part, beer pong!
It was a privilege for me that I was invited to the celebration of Buddha-Bar Manila's 5th Anniversary. The last time that I came to this place was about three years ago and the impression that was left in my mind was that this place is very expensive. As I return, I was surprised to see how so much has changed and how this place has adjusted to cater the Filipino market.
I had a lunch invite from Zomato to try out Raging Bull at Shangrila at The Fort along with other foodies. Being in a luxury hotel, I had expectations for this restaurant and I'm glad that it didn't disappoint me at all.
Zomato together with Citibank is giving out amazing offers to Citi Credit Card and Citibank Visa Debit Card holders. (For more details, see: Citibank Dining Program) Offer is valid until September 15, 2016.
It was my first time to be invited for a foodie quiz night hosted by Zomato at 121 Bonifacio Stopover. Located at the third floor of BGC Stopover Pavillion, Rizal Drive corner 31st Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, this is 121's newest branch in the Metro,
Normally, they host their quiz nights at Allegro branch (this one is an exemption). I also figured out that they were the first ones to introduce beer pong here in the Philippines (cool, right?).
I had so much fun during the quiz night, and these are what we had:
121 Scandal. 121's special house recipe. Very refreshing but can get you drunk without your noticing it.
Lumpiang Shanghai. It was good with the right crunch but the meat was slightly undercooked.
Chicken Binakol. There were huge chunks of coconut in the binakol which I enjoyed. The chicken is also good but I find the soup a bit salty compared to the usual chicken binakol that I was used to.
Tuyo Fried Rice. This was really fragrant. You could smell the tuyo from afar, but it was surprisingly not salty which was a good thing. Tastes just right with the rice and was not overpowering. It has a bit of spice in it which works well with the other dishes served in 121.
Grilled Pork Liempo. It was really good and was tender. Goes well with the 121 sauce.
121 Sauce. 121's own sauce recipe. Tastes like Knorr seasoning with soy sauce and calamansi.
Sizzling Beef Salpicao. This is really tasty. The beef is tender and juicy. Mushrooms are juicy. Crunchy minced garlic with a good spice.
White Chocolate Cheesecake. Cold and sweet, I liked the idea of combining white chocolate and cheesecake. Not too sweet, tastes average. Graham base is also average.
Mandatory selfie with Jen (www.sandundermyfeet.com) during the quiz night. Their team was the one who won.
Working in Manila could be very stressful especially due to the traffic problem that we have been experiencing lately. It's about time that we unwind with our friends and pass the time at a good bar on a weekend. Last week, we decided to try Rue Bourbon (Salcedo Branch).
Last July 11, 2015 the FHM BroCon and 100 Sexiest Victory Party was held at the SMX Convention Center. The BroCon kinda like your usual convention events, only this time you get to meet the FHM girls. We skipped the convention and the yearly FHM fashion show and headed on to House Manila where the after party is being held.
Shabu shabu has been a craze for Manila foodies and we have recently discovered a good resto-lounge in Antipolo. Along Soliven Avenue in Masinag, comes Fuze Resto-Lounge. For those who also love to go on a food trip at Lilac Street in Marikina, Fuze is near to that place and you just can't miss this!
Had a random invite from a friend to try out the new Gastrobar in Mandaluyong: Rehab. We dropped by the place at around 10 in the evening on a Tuesday. Rehab was a bit hard to find because it wasn't located along commercial areas.
Last week, my friend invited me at 12 Monkeys for her birthday celebration. 12 Monkeys is one of the latest hangout places for OPM bands in the Metro. That night, the bands Giniling Festival, Pulso, and Up Dharma Down were to play on stage. We arrived there at 8:30pm with a table reservation and was charged 300 Php per head for our entrance. I learned that the place gives all that they have collected from the door charges to the bands.
Hi! :) I'm Princess, a.k.a. Phantasm Darkstar. Welcome to my blog.
I have been on a very long blogging hiatus (I started blogging in 2006) but the images from my former blog got corrupted, so I came up with this new site.
At first, I was planning to rebuild my blog and put almost anything here. From serious lectures, to reviews, and other random stuff (food, gaming, fashion, travel, medicine, beauty, etc.) But as you can see, it is 60% about food and 40% lifestyle/travel/nightlife. Enjoy! ^_^
