Must-Try Restaurants in Lio, El Nido (3/7): Manille Beach Bar
This is probably my favorite bar in Lio, featuring the quality products of Destileria Limtuaco & Co., Inc.
Manille Beach Bar is named after Destileria Limtuaco & Co., Inc's flagship Philippine Craft Spirit brand, Manille Liqueur de Calamansi and Dalandan. Destileria Limtuaco & Co., Inc, is the oldest distillery in the Philippines having developed quality spirits and liqueurs since 1852. Manille Beach Bar aims to feature the many use of Destileria Limtuaco's diverse product line through its food and beverage offering.
Here are the ones that we had:
Starters
Manille Longanisa Nachos. Crunchy corn chips topped with fresh salsa, cheese sauce and local pork sausage meat with Imeldifique Cooking Wine. Yep, the cooking wine was named after Philippines' former first lady, Imelda Marcos.
Spicy Chicken Wings. Crispy fried chicken wings coated in a sweet-spicy glaze pepper sauce with Imeldifique Cooking Wine. This definitely goes well with alcohol and a cup of rice.
Salad
Paradise Salad. Romane lettuce, carrots, cucumber, diced fresh mangoes with Paradise Mango Rum liqueur. I like how they incorporated liqueur with this salad and it still tastes great. Oh, ripe mango! My favorite.
Meals
Amadeo Coffee Beef Ribs. Choice cut beef rib stew simmered with Amadeo Coffee Liqueur. Tender and flavorful. I love it from the meat to the sauce and a little bit of spice.
Signature Cocktails
Manille Basil Smash. A gin basil smash twist made with Empire London Dry Gin, Manille Liqueur de Calamansi, lemon juice, basil leaves and simple syrup. Served on the rocks with a basil sprig. Refreshing with a kick.
El Nido Gold. El Hombre Gold, Manille Liqueur de Dalandan, elderflower syrup, guava juice and lemon juice. Gold in a glass!
Calauit Park Swizzle. Old Captain 5-Year Old Rum, orgeat syrup, guava juice. Served in a wine glass and topped with lots of crushed ice and a generous topping or angostura bitters.
Apparently, this was my fave pick for the night. They got Intramuros Liqueur de Cacao. Our Filipino version for Bailey's. This bottle is a rare find and tastes really good.
