Oktoberfest at the Long Bar

It's that time of the year again where people around the world celebrate Oktoberfest and Long Bar has an amazing offer for everyone.

One of the famous bars in the world was the Long Bar in Raffles Hotel, Singapore. Raffles Hotel in Manila has the same Long Bar which also includes their tradition of throwing peanut shells on the floor. The ambiance of the place is very cozy and classy. They play silent movies at the bar, those of Charlie Chaplin's. They also have a band playing late in the evening.
For only 695 per person during their happy hour (5pm to 8pm), you may have their unlimited beer, house pour liquors, and cocktails. (Click the photo to view full menu).
The Paulaner Oktoberfest Brew is a must-try. Only brewed during Oktoberfest; this is Germany’s favorite Oktoberfest beer and a true institution in Munich. The glass is full of October sunshine, strong and golden. The perfect balance of a light taste of hops and a strong note of malt.
The Paulaner Munich Hell Original is a classic. Or if you want a dark beer, you may opt for the Paulaner Dunkel Original. Clear and sparkling bright golden in the glass, crowned by a pure white head, it is usually drunk in the shade of a chestnut tree according to tradition. A beer which always goes down well: mild, elegant malts with a hint of sweetness and a soft hint of hops in the background.
My personal choice is the Paulaner Hefe-Weißbier. The no. 1 Hefe-Weißbier in Germany and one of the world’s favorites. Caramel in color, with a light aroma of banana, a mild taste of yeast and the perfect degree of acidity.
Other local and imported beers are also available on the menu.
For the cocktails, we had the Classic Singapore Sling (Left) made of Bombay Sapphire, Cherry Heering, Cointreau, fresh lemon and pineapple, Angostura bitters topped with a whisper of Benedictine. The Classic Singapore Sling is another cocktail that Long Bar is famous for. Next is the Lychee Martini (Right), made of house-infused lychee vodka--shaken until icy cold; and the Rain or Shine (Middle), made of Bacardi Casablanca, carrot juice, guava juice, lime juice, sugar syrup, fresh mint.  My personal favorite is the Singapore Sling. I find the Lychee Martini stronger and the Rain or Shine on the more refreshing side. It's so good, you would barely notice the alcohol. In Filipino, traydor. Haha
The Pork Knuckle and Sausage Platter go well with the beers. Schweinshaxe, Veal Bratwurst, Thuringer, Frankfurter, apple strudel, classic pretzel, mashed potato, sauerkraut, pickles, mustard. The pork knuckle had a good amount of fat and was juicy and tender. The mashed potato was really good, I find it addicting.
Prost!
