arakawa,
Arakawa
It was a rainy Friday afternoon when my mom and I decided to try out this restaurant which is near our place.
Located at the ground floor of Comtal Building, Victoria Place corner C. Raymundo Avenue, Pasig City, Arakawa is a Japanese casual dining restaurant which serves a variety of Japanese cuisine from rice meals, ramen, sushi, and sashimi. The ambiance of the place is a mix traditional Japanese decors and semi-modern interiors. The place is well lit but not too spacious.
Sharing what we had at Arakawa:
Ripe Mango Shake. Fresh and thick.
Shoyu Ramen. Light soy sauce based egg noodles soup topped with half serving of braised pork, egg and veggies. Tastes average as well. Midway my meal, there was PLASTIC in it (I almost swallowed it!). I called the attention of the waiter, and she didn't know how to respond. She just informed the chef and they said that it was probably from the packaging of the noodles. So? There's still plastic in my food. They offered to just give me a new one but I refused.
Sushi Sampler. A variety of sushi, sashimi, and nigiri. In the photo in the menu, there was salmon and tuna sashimi. When they served it, it was only tuna. They did not even inform us that they were out of salmon on that day. The cuts of the sashimi was huge.
Nigiri Moriawase. Hand pressed sushi (tuna, salmon, tamago, kani, ika, ebi, and tekka maki). Again, they did not inform us that they were out of salmon.
Katsudon. Breaded layered pork belly simmered in mild sweet sauce, onion, and egg. Tastes bland. The meat was not tender.
I'm disappointed with Arakawa. The ambiance was enticing, but the service was really bad. The food took a long while to be served. When we billed out, the waiter handed me a filthy bill (see image). They subtracted the ramen from the bill because of the plastic issue. But other factors such as the service still made me disappointed. Considering that the place was also a bit pricey.
