Meet Fresh Opens Its First Branch in the Philippines
Meet Fresh, a known Taiwanese restaurant chain that specializes in fresh, natural, and healthful Taiwanese desserts including soft taro balls and herbed jelly has opened its first branch in the Philippines. I was invited during their media launch to try out some of their dishes before their grand opening.
Meet Fresh Philippines is located on the 5th floor of The Podium, ADB Avenue, Ortigas, Mandaluyong City. Meet Fresh has more than 800 branches around the globe, with locations in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the United States.
Founded in 2007 by Dong Fu, who learned the recipes from his brother and sister, Meet Fresh utilizes traditional Taiwanese methods and selection of the finest ingredients, aiming to bring authentic local tastes to the international stage. Meet Fresh prioritizes serving healthy desserts without preservatives made fresh; daily. Did I mention that it's also gluten-free? Wow.
Here are the ones that I've tried at Meet Fresh:
Signature Icy Grass Jelly. Taro balls, grass jelly, and grass jelly shaved ice. Their treats come with pre-packed creamer which allows you to control how much will you put into. I like the light and sweet taste of the grass jelly--it feels very refreshing and guilt-free (grass jelly is low in calorie and high in fiber). The taro balls have a soft and chewy texture. What's underneath is shaved ice and a sweet liquid that kind of reminds me of gulaman.
Almond Pudding and Peanut/Sesame Mochi Combo. This also comes with cream. I like almonds so I enjoyed their almond pudding--it also gives a light and refreshing feel. The mochis are chewy which give a good contrast with the soft pudding.
Fluffy Wintermelon Tea. Another refreshing drink from Meet Fresh. It's topped with foamy whipped cream that makes this drink, "fluffy."
