A new menu celebrating new adventures and reminiscing on old favorites: On its 20th year, anniversary in the country, CPK Philippines launches their new menu with all-new pizzas, pasta, salads, while re-introducing pizza favorites over the past 20 years.
California Pizza Kitchen is one of my favorite restaurants. I'm glad they brought back some old favorites as well as new delectable dishes on the menu--they never disappoint.
Here are the dishes that were served/we had during the media launch:
Mango-Lemon Cheesecake. The amount of whipped cream in this drink is a guilty pleasure. I couldn't resist this even if I'm on a diet. It's just so good. And yes, as always, mangoes are my weakness.
Four Cheese + Pork & Beef Nachos. It's good, though, I'm not a fan of olives.
Golden Pear Salad. Golden pears, Granny Smith apples, arugula, celery, parsley, and pomegranate seeds in a lime olive oil dressing topped with candied walnuts and white cheddar. I love the textures that go in this salad. The crunch and sweetness from the candied walnuts make this salad exciting.
California Harvest Salad. Baby kale, napa cabbage, carrots and farro mixed with seedless grapes, strawberries, and watermelon tossed in your choice of citrus or blueberry vinaigrette topped with almonds. Another exciting salad by CPK. I like the citrus vinaigrette better--it gives a refreshing feel.
Spicy Shrimp Poppers. Spicy shrimp bites that go well with the black sesame. A good appetizer.
Thai Calamari. Breaded squid in a sweet Thai chili sauce with peanuts, chili, peppers, pineapple, scallions, and Japanese Furikake. This is delicious. It also comes with rice. Sating.
Chicken Tequila Fettucine. Chicken, tricolor bell peppers, red onions with a Cuervo Gold Tequila cream sauce mixed with green fettuccine, fresh cilantro, and lime juice. I didn't know tequila would go well with pasta. This is an amazing innovation. Creamy yet strong. It's good.
Jambalaya Pasta. Linguini with a cajun spiced Jambalaya sauce, chicken, smoked sausage, and chopped scallions topped with blackening spice seasoned shrimp. Traditionally, Jambalaya is made with rice. They innovated and came up with this good spicy pasta dish.
Thai Coconut Curry Shrimp Rice. Shrimp, garlic, mushrooms, carrots, ginger, bell peppers, jalapeño, peanuts, cilantro in a coconut curry sauce with lemon zest. I like it--it's not too strong for a curry. The coconut gives it a creamy texture and the lemon zest gives it a good balance.
Blackened Shrimp Grits + Rice. Blackening spice seasoned shrimp with olive oil, butter, lemon, wine on cheesy roasted corn grits.
Chicken Parmigiana. Breaded chicken, mashed potatoes, broccoli with Bechamel cream and Marinara mozzarella sauces, parsley, and scallions.
Kids' Quorn Nuggets + Seasoned Fries. Quorn is a meat-free, low-calorie mycoprotein from the mushroom family which is low in fat, high in protein, and high in fiber. Who knew this is actually vegetarian? Tastes like chicken. Yum!
Tuna Melt. Tuna melt pizza. The tuna is very fine. It blends well with the pizza's other toppings.
Mango Tandoori Pizza. Indian spiced chicken chunks with mozzarella, onions, ripe mango, and red pepper on a golden curry sauce bed drizzled with mango chili sauce and chopped cilantro. I'm so glad that CPK offers a variety of dishes with mangoes in it. This is obviously my favorite. I ordered this again when I came back to CPK before posting this blog post.
Roast Duck Pizza. Marinated roasted duck, soy-glazed shitake mushrooms, and mozzarella on a hoisin sauce bed topped with crispy fried wonton strips, scallions, and a hoisin sauce drizzle. Another favorite. This is definitely a gourmet dish.
Rustica Pepperoni. A crispy thin crust pizza of Pepperoni, fresh mozzarella, olives, capers, and crushed red chili flakes on a Neapolitan pizza sauce bed topped with parmesan.
Wild Mushroom Pizza. Fresh wild mushrooms, romano, mozzarella, and scallions on an extra virgin garlic olive oil base topped with parmesan.
Cheeseburger Pizza. Ground Angus beef, crispy bacon, Velveeta and mozzarella, caramelized onions with fresh tomatoes, crisp lettuce, and secret sauce topped with freshly sliced avocados. When you couldn't decide if you want to have burger or pizza. Why not have both? It's good.
Spicy Chorizo Pizza. Chorizo with chili pepper sauce, queso quesadilla, roasted green bell peppers and onion petals topped with fresh avocado slices and chopped cilantro.
White Clam Pizza. Baby clam meat with mozzarella, garlic, extra virgin olive oil, onion petals, chopped parsley, thyme, and chili flakes topped with oregano and parmesan.
Tropical Quorn Pizza. Quorn chunks, grilled pineapple, mozzarella and parmesan, and yellow onions with fresh chopped cilantro on a coconut cream sauce accented with a special Carribean sauce. Another vegetarian dish that uses Quorn. I barely noticed that it's vegetarian. Really good.
Chicken Fajita. One of their thin crust pizzas. This fajita pizza is a good twist. Don't forget to squeeze the lime in the middle.
Nutella Cheesecake. Hazelnut chocolate spread and cream cheese on a Graham cracker crust topped with whipped cream and chocolate syrup. I like the texture and taste. It's not too soft. The sweetness is just right.
Banoffee Pie. Sliced banana, coffee powder and cream on a Graham cracker crust topped with whipped cream, caramel syrup, and candied walnuts. I'm happy about the generous serving of whipped cream that they put here. Delectable.
