Our third stop for our SM City North EDSA food crawl is at Dohtonbori. In spite of the number of dishes that we had for the day, I still have room in my tummy for their good food.

Dohtonbori's philosophy is "Teppan Communication" where they want the environment surrounding the teppan to be enjoyable and cooking together with your loved ones. Through the Teppan Communication, you will experience the heartfelt feeling of connectedness with each other through "Wa" (Harmony) and "Omotenashi" (Hospitality). Dohtonbori is located on the upper ground floor of the main building of SM City North EDSA, Bago Bantay, Quezon City. They have 5 branches in the metro and they recently opened their most recent branch at SM City Fairview. I like how the interiors of Dohtonbori has a traditional Japanese feel. The staff are accommodating, and I like that even their menu explains the history of some Japanese dishes.

Here are the dishes that we tried:
Gyu-don. Rice topped with beef and onion simmered in a mildly sweet sauce flavored with dashi, soy sauce, and mirin. Gyudon is one of my favorite Japanese dishes and what they serve is good. Though, I want mine with egg on top most of the time.
Ajitama Ramen. Ramen noodles poured under steaming soup base of your choice (Tonkotsu/Shoyu) together with premium Chasu pork, broth, aonori and a tasty soft-boiled egg. Creamy good.
Okonomiyaki. Okonomiyaki has already been present in Japan for over 500 years; dating as far back to the Edo period. It became widely popular during the World War II when resources were extremely scarce and the Japanese made use of whatever ingredients they have readily available to them. They mixed the ingredients they have with flour paste and formed a circular dish to what we now call okonomiyaki. Currently, okonomiyaki has become one of the most popular staple food for the Japanese especially in Osaka, where they consider this as their essential soul food.
From the word itself, "Okonomi," which means, "what you want" and, "yaki," which means "cooking," it is basically cooking what you want.
Butatama Okonomiyaki. Simple pork okonomiyaki. Incredibly sating.

Hamburg Cheese Steak. Thick and meaty Hamburg Steak Okonomiyaki with sizzling cheese sauce on top of it. I don't know where to begin in describing this one. Let's take a moment, to just stare at that heavenly goodness of Hamburg steak; look at that succulent meat cooked as an okonomiyaki, then topped with cheese that's going to make you drool and dive in.

Kalbi Yakiniku. Grilled beef. It's good to have as it is or with rice.

Garlic Angus Striploin Steak. 200g Striploin steak with garlic butter. Another meaty goodness. Tender and juicy; the garlic butter also adds to the flavor.

Monjayaki. It is also one of the famous Japanese traditional food. In downtown Tokyo, where it is the most developed area for Monjayaki, the kids are used to eating it at the Dagashiya or the candy store, famous during the Showa period. Unique to Monjayaki is the watery paste but sticky texture once cooked. The small-sized spatula will be used to press the Monjayaki on the griddle until it is crispy enough to escape. We had the Four Cheese Monja which consists of Mozzarella cheese, Cheddar cheese, Parmesan Cheese, and Gouda Cheese.

Mandatory groupie with my KTG besties. We sure enjoyed dining here and it is a good family bonding place for us. Even the kids enjoyed the meals.
