I recently got invited during Morelli's birth month to try out their gelato as well as their signature coffee.
Located at the third level of the East Wing of Shangri-La Plaza, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City, Morelli's Gelato was founded by Giueseppe Morelli in 1907 when he began selling homemade gelato from the back of his bicycle around the English seaside resort of Broadstairs.
I was able to try all flavors of their gelato and I would say that I really enjoyed them. Every flavor that I tasted left me wonderstruck on how rich their gelato tastes like. Not to mention that I prefer gelato over ice cream because it makes me feel less guilty (in terms of calories) as well as its texture. If you're interested in getting just a scoop to try Morelli's out, their expert pick is their bestselling premium Pistachio gelato with Pistachio nuts sourced from Bronte, a small village perched on the side of Mount Etna in Sicily.
Baileys. Hazelnut and soft vanilla gelato topped with chocolate sauce, fresh whipped cream and a single shot of Baileys liqueur in a chocolate cup. This is one of Morelli's Tipsy Treats! Strawberry Sundae. Vanilla and strawberry gelato served with strawberry sauce, fresh strawberries, and fresh whipped cream. Strawberries and whipped cream are two things that I really love. I love how the whipped cream would balance the indulging strawberries that make you just want to have more until you're surprised that you have finished the entire glass already.
Bella Nutella. Soft vanilla, Nutella, chocolate, and banana gelato served with fresh banana and Piemonte hazelnuts, with Nutella sauce in a chocolate cup and fresh whipped cream. I love Nutella but it can really be very sweet for me. I love how the whipped cream would balance that, and how it would complement well with the mild, fruity sweetness of the banana gelato. It's really good!
Amore Cup. Primo Amore: Hazelnut, chocolate, and soft vanilla gelato served with chocolate sprinkles, Piemonte hazelnuts, a chocolate flake and fresh whipped cream; Secondo Amore: Berry sorbet, strawberry and soft vanilla gelato served with strawberries dipped in chocolate, a spring of redcurrant, baby meringues and fresh whipped cream. This love-cup with worth sharing with someone, or all for yourself to enjoy both flavors, either way, the experience is unforgettable.
Shakerato. Italian iced coffee (Not served with whipped cream). This has a good amount of caffeine in it as it prevents me from having carb coma after the amount of sugar that I had.

I gotta thank Morelli's for spoiling me on this. Being a whipped cream addict, I couldn't decide on which to order because I was looking for cold coffee with a good amount of caffeine to keep me awake (because I still have to study when I get home after visiting them) plus whipped cream (for obvious reasons). They suggested the shakerato and gave me a separate cup of whipped cream instead. Yay! Definitely a happy kid!
