Feta Mediterranean

I have tried Mediterranean dishes a couple of times and met some people who love it; but I haven't been well aware of their dishes. Dining at Feta with other foodies has given me not only a good eat but also a learning experience.

Located at the Ground Floor, Intrawest Center, 101 Annapolis Street, Greenhills, San Juan City, is Feta Mediterranean. Feta is specialized in Turkish and Greek, Mediterranean cuisines.

The restaurant is spacious with interiors that give three different ambiance, quite different for me to tell. A mix of modern Turkish and Moroccan architecture.

I love this part of the restaurant. The gold wall panel gives a classy, luxurious feel to the room while the modern lighting lights the room well and is perfect for taking your food pics.

This area would be perfect for Mediterranean food lovers who wants to have that authentic Mediterranean dining experience.

Details..

Having that authentic Turkish dining experience; thanks to our chef who was very hands-on to everything that we tried that day, even when serving the dishes.

Here are the dishes that we tried:

Appetizers

Mezze Platter. Ghanoush: mashed eggplant, dry yogurt; Tzatziki: yogurt, cucumber, dry mint; Ezme: tomatoes, onions, peppers, herbs, olive oil; Eggplant SaladHummus: mashed chickpeas, blended with tahini, olive oil, lemon juice. My favorite here is the hummus. Can't figure out which one was missing in this shot, though.

Plain Bread. Could go with almost anything on the menu.

Puff bread. Works well with the mezze platter.

Vegetarian Moussaka. Sauteed eggplant and tomato baked with mozzarella cheese. I first I thought it was lasagna on the table. I was amazed that the eggplant and mozzarella worked well with this dish and I find it good.

Red Lentil Soup. Mashed lentils with carrots, potatoes, dry mint, rice, chili flakes. Tastes quite bland to me. Squeeze some lime for added taste.

Drinks

House Blend Iced Tea (Back-Left). Good amount of serving in a huge flask. Quite creative; Yoghurt Shake-Sweet (Right). Could also be served Aryan (salty) but I chose to go for the sweet one. It was good. The sweetness was a perfect balance for the meaty dishes that we had; Turkish Tea (Front). The first glass served is free. Served on a small cup. I could not differ the Turkish tea from Chinese tea--tastes quite the same. Add lime for more flavor.

Turkish Coffee. The Turkish coffee was served on a really small cup. I learned that Turkish coffee was stronger than the usual coffee that is served here in Manila. As a coffee lover, I find it good and I love the strength of it. It's like having an extra shot of caffeine in a small mug.

Main Dishes

Turkish Breakfast, served with Menemen with Ekmek  (Turkish bread). Fresh tomatoes, cucumber, olives, and feta cheese. The menemen with ekmek is a classic omelette with fresh tomatoes, green chili, and fresh eggs cooked to perfection. Looks like a light meal but gives you a balanced breakfast that can give you a good start for the day. The feta cheese is addicting.

Vendura Sicilliana. Vegetable pasta spiced with anchovies. The vegetable pasta and anchovies is a perfect combination. It was my first time to try this dish and I loved it.

Pesto Linguine with Walnut and Feta Cheese. Pesto sauce with walnuts topped with feta cheese. The walnuts give a twist of texture to the pasta while the feta cheese give a different kind of saltiness to the pesto. Also a great combination of ingredients.

Beyti. Grilled ground beef or chicken wrapped in Lavash (a soft, thin flat bread of Armenian origin) topped with Iskender Sauce and Haydari Sauce.

Souvlaki Beef. Skewered meat kebab marinated with their secret recipe. The tenderness of the meat is just right

Adana Kebab Beef. Adana, Turkey is known for its best kebab. Long hand-minced meat kebab mounted on a wide iron skewer and grilled on an open burning charcoal. I find it just as good as the souvlaki.

Keftedes (Mediterranean Meatballs). Keftedes is a famous Greek appetizer and works well with the mezze platter, but in this case, it can also be served as a filling meal. Juicy and tender.

Grilled Moroccan Lamb Chops. 3 pieces of lamb chops marinated into secret ingredients. Served with choice of rice or mashed potato. I love how tender the lamb was on this dish.

Greek Pizza with Minced Beef. Mediterranean boat-shaped pizza. Thin crust. Good but I still prefer the Italian pizza. Not that tasty for me, and did not quite meet my expectations for a pizza.

Mixed Souvlaki Platter. Combination of different meats with Lahmacun or Mediterranean Pizza. Serves up to four persons.

Desserts

Kanafeh. A Levantine cheese pastry soaked in sweet sugar-based syrup with a semi-soft cheese filling made of raw milk.

Profiteroles. A dessert of French descent, these choux pastry balls are cut in half and are filled with a cream filling topped with chocolate syrup.

Feta also has a corner which sells imported deli goods from Turkey.

Lastly, our mandatory groupie. Thanks Aldous (Blog: Aldous Ate the World) for the invite!
